1. What the program is
Plan One IT operates a private, informational text-messaging service for its owner and a small number of household members. Messages include system and security alerts (for example, server and power alerts, smoke, carbon-monoxide and water-leak alerts), account and bookkeeping notifications, questions that ask the recipient to categorize or confirm an item, and replies to questions the recipient sends. Some replies are generated automatically, including by AI software. The program sends no marketing or promotional messages. It is not open to the public; recipients are enrolled individually after giving consent.
2. How recipients opt in (verbal consent)
Each recipient is enrolled only after giving verbal consent in person or by phone. Before enrolling anyone, we read the following script and record the date and the answer:
Plan One IT: “As part of our household alert service, we can send automated text messages to your mobile number from our toll-free number. They include security and system alerts, smoke, carbon-monoxide and leak alerts, bookkeeping questions you can answer by text, and replies to questions you send us. Some replies are written by AI software. Message frequency varies, usually a few messages per day. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. At any time you can reply HELP for help, or reply STOP to opt out completely. Our SMS Terms are at https://planoneit.com/sms-terms/ and our Privacy Policy is at https://planoneit.com/privacy-policy/. Your messages are logged and summarized in a weekly report to the account owner. Would you like to receive these messages, yes or no?”
Recipient: “Yes.”
Plan One IT: “Great. You will receive a text message confirming your enrollment shortly.”
If the answer is no, the person is not enrolled. After a yes, the first message sent to the number is this confirmation:
“Plan One IT alerts: you’re enrolled. Msgs are logged & summarized weekly for the account owner. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.”
3. Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies with system events and with how often you text us; it is usually a few messages per day and is limited to at most 60 per day per recipient, except for safety alerts. Non-urgent messages are held overnight (10 PM to 8 AM). Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Plan One IT does not charge for the program.
4. Help and opting out
- Reply HELP to any message for help, or contact us at [email protected] or 1-877-616-7526 (Mon–Fri 8 AM–6 PM Eastern).
- Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to opt out. You will receive one confirmation and no further messages.
- Reply START to opt back in.
5. Privacy
Mobile numbers and opt-in consent are not shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Messages are processed by our messaging carrier and service providers only to deliver the program. See our Privacy Policy for details, including how text messages are stored and how long they are kept.
6. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and the account holder of the mobile number, or have the account holder’s permission, to receive messages. If you change or give up your mobile number, reply STOP first or tell us so we can remove it.
7. Other terms
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed, so the program must not be relied on as the only means of emergency notification. The program is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and to the extent permitted by law Plan One IT is not liable for any damages arising from messages that are delayed, not delivered or inaccurate. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. We may change or end the program at any time, and will update this page and its “Last updated” date when we do.
